Local Connections for Producers

and Commercial Foodies

Farmer Meets Foodie connects farmers, harvesters, graziers and growers directly to restaurants, cafes, food trucks and caterers who have a passion for using local produce.  We are passionate about telling the story behind how produce is grown and prepared, the work that goes into it, the challenges, the innovation and creation that is making Australian produce sort after worldwide.

We are committed to ensuring that Australia’s amazing produce is available locally, close to where its grown or harvested, in our restaurants, cafes and at events.  There are challenges around making that a reality.  Farmer Meets Foodie is addressing these challenges, making it easier for producers and commercial foodies to find each other, to tell the stories behind their businesses, to buy and sell produce locally.  Farmer Meets Foodie provides a first class service to make local produce available across all regions of Australia.

Community Engagement in

Sustainable Land Management

Farmer Meets Foodie runs small events to engage producers, community, youth and children in sustainable agriculture. Our most recent events include the Farmer Meets Foodie Forum and Sustainability Day Out. We are passionate about showcasing producers and harvesters that are going the extra mile to grow and harvest with the environment in mind and sharing this with the wider community. If you are planning an event or looking for someone to plan for you – a showcase of sustainable agriculture in your region, a local produce lunch, an environmental day out for schools or a bus tour for youth, contact us to get the best in events with a sustainability and local produce focus.

Founder Erica Hughes has more than 10 years experience in running activities focussed on sustainability for all sectors of the community, she has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Applied Science, a Permaculture Design Certificate and 20 years experience across the fields of Landcare, Rangelands, Environmental Education and Natural Resource Managment.
